Mindful trail retreats
Reem and Blu, near Dripping Springs.
An annual retreat for interns, associates and licensed therapists. We walk, and the subject is presence: what it feels like when you have it, what takes it away, and what you do instead when you have lost it.
It is not a conference and there is no curriculum to get through. Expect quiet, movement, small-group work, and more silence than most professional events are comfortable with.
Associates in supervision with Reem are included in the annual retreat. Others are welcome as space allows.
Good fit if
- You give your clients regulation skills you do not practice yourself.
- You are competent and quietly exhausted.
- You want professional development that is not another slide deck.
- You are curious about somatic work but have only read about it.
Working with horses
Horses respond to what your nervous system is doing, not to what you intend or say. A therapist who is subtly braced gets a different horse than one who is settled, and the feedback arrives in seconds rather than in a supervision session three weeks later.
Two ways in. Associates in supervision can add equine-assisted sessions at $60 each as part of their supervision. Licensed therapists who want to bring horses into their own practice can train with Reem, for a separate fee.
Location is Dripping Springs, Texas. Sessions are scheduled individually, and a conversation comes first either way.

Why any of this, when you already have supervision
Because the thing that limits most clinicians is not knowledge. It is how much they can stay present for before something in them takes over: the urge to fix, to reassure, to change the subject, to work harder than the client.
That capacity does not grow much by talking about it. It grows by being in a situation where your own state is the material, and then noticing what you do. Walking does some of that. Horses do a lot of it.
Three forms of it follow: a trail retreat once a year, equine sessions and training through the year, and ethics hours taught the same way.
Ethics hours, taught the same way
The required ethics hours are usually a tour of the rules. Reem's are about secondary trauma: what this work does to the person doing it, which is the same subject as the retreat and the horses, counted toward your license.
One CEU online, or two in person on a trail walk among horses. What is on offer, and what Texas requires at renewal.
Questions
Do I have to be Reem's supervisee to attend a retreat?
No. Associates in supervision with Reem are included, and other interns, associates and licensed therapists are welcome as space allows.
How much do the equine sessions cost?
$60 per session for LPC Associates in supervision with Reem, added on to the $425 monthly supervision fee. Training for therapists who want to work with horses in their own practice is priced separately per offering.
Do the ethics CEUs count toward Texas LPC renewal?
Yes. Ethics hours count toward the 6-hour ethics requirement inside your 24 hours per renewal period, and they also fill the approved-provider half: at least half your total hours must come from a provider listed in 22 TAC §681.140(f), and subsection (f)(6) lists a licensee with supervisor status. Reem is an LPC Supervisor in Texas.
Is any of this therapy?
No. Retreats and training are professional development, and supervision is supervision. If what you need is your own therapy, that is a good thing to want, and Reem can point you to a referral rather than mixing the roles.
How can I learn more?
The frequently asked questions page collects everything that is not specific to one service: fees and insurance, how the methods differ, complex PTSD, what Texas requires of a counselor, and how to start. If the answer is not there either, a free consult is the quickest way to get one.
