Anxiety therapy in Texas
Reem Glasco, LPC-S, works with anxiety, panic attacks and social anxiety in adults and young adults across Texas. The approach is body-first: Somatic Experiencing, NARM and IFS-informed EMDR, because a braced nervous system rarely argues itself into calm. Sessions are 50 minutes, self-pay, online anywhere in Texas, with Blue Cross Blue Shield accepted. The practice's LPC Associates see clients at lower fees, including sliding scale, and usually sooner.
Anxiety as a nervous system state
Anxiety is easier to understand as a threat response that never got to finish than as a thinking error. That is why insight so often fails to help: you can know the fear is disproportionate and still have a chest that will not unclench.
Somatic Experiencing works in doses, tracking sensation and the small movements the body did not complete, which widens your window of tolerance rather than talking you out of the feeling. NARM asks where the pattern was learned and what it was protecting. When specific memories or triggers are reliably hijacking you, EMDR gets added.
Where anxiety sits on top of developmental trauma, which is common, the work looks like the trauma page rather than symptom management.
What people bring here
- A body braced at rest, with nothing in particular happening.
- Panic attacks, and then anxiety about the next panic attack.
- Social anxiety: rehearsing conversations before and reviewing them after.
- Anxiety that lives in the chest and stomach more than in the thoughts.
- Sleep that will not arrive, or arrives and does not restore.
- Coping that works well enough at work and collapses at home.
Social anxiety specifically
Social anxiety is usually relational in origin, so it responds to relational work. NARM's question is not how to perform better in the room but what you learned about being seen, and what it cost to be yourself in front of other people.
The pacing matters more than usual here. Being asked to push into exposure before your system has any footing tends to confirm the fear rather than disprove it.

Questions about anxiety therapy
Do you treat panic attacks?
Yes. Panic is usually treated as a nervous system event rather than a thought to correct: what the system was bracing for, what the response never completed, and how to build tolerance in doses so the next wave is survivable rather than catastrophic.
Is social anxiety treated differently from general anxiety?
The lens shifts. Social anxiety is usually relational in origin, so NARM's questions about being seen and what it cost to be yourself in front of others do more work than symptom management. Both are covered here, and the consult is where we work out which lens fits what you are dealing with.
Do you do exposure work?
Not as the main method. The Somatic Experiencing approach is titrated, meaning small doses at a pace your system can integrate, because a system that gets flooded learns that attention to itself is dangerous. Capacity comes first, contact with the feared thing after.
Do I need medication for anxiety?
That is a question for a prescriber. Reem is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, not a physician, and does not prescribe or advise on medication. Therapy and medication are not alternatives to each other, and plenty of people do both.
Does anxiety therapy work online?
Yes, and it is the default here. Body-based work translates well to video because it tracks your sensation rather than the room. Being in your own space is an advantage for some anxious systems and a distraction for others, which is worth raising in the consult.
How soon does anxiety ease?
Stabilization work often shifts something within a handful of sessions. Anxiety that sits on developmental trauma takes longer, because the target is capacity rather than a symptom. We review it together instead of promising a number at the start.
How can I learn more?
The frequently asked questions page collects everything that is not specific to one service: fees and insurance, how the methods differ, complex PTSD, what Texas requires of a counselor, and how to start. If the answer is not there either, a free consult is the quickest way to get one.
This practice does not provide emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
