Trauma therapy in Texas
Reem Glasco, LPC-S, works with developmental trauma and C-PTSD: the patterns that formed early, before you had words or choices, and the ones still forming now. The working lens is IFS-informed EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and NARM rather than talking about it again. Sessions are 50 minutes, self-pay, online anywhere in Texas, with Blue Cross Blue Shield accepted. Because her caseload is small, many new clients start here. The practice's LPC Associates see clients at lower fees, including sliding scale, and usually sooner.
What trauma work looks like here
Nothing gets opened faster than you can stay present for. That is not caution for its own sake: a nervous system that floods learns that attention to the body is dangerous, and then the work gets harder rather than easier.
You do not have to tell the whole story. Somatic Experiencing tracks what the body is still holding rather than what the mind can narrate, and NARM asks where a pattern was learned and whether it is still serving you, rather than excavating the past for its own sake.
With developmental trauma we are usually building capacity rather than processing a single event, so the arc is longer and the review is done together instead of guessed at the start.
What people bring here
- Patterns that formed early, before there were words or choices for them.
- C-PTSD and PTSD, including trauma that has not finished happening.
- Understanding your history perfectly well and nothing changing.
- Going numb, or flooding, whenever you approach the hard material.
- Self-criticism doing most of the talking.
If EMDR has stalled before
The usual story: preparation looked adequate, processing started, and then it flooded, flattened or went nowhere. People tend to read that as proof the memory is untouchable. It is more often a sign that something in you was never asked.
Most of the work here happens before any processing does, which is why people who have tried EMDR elsewhere end up on this page. How IFS-informed EMDR handles the part that objects.

Questions about trauma therapy
What is developmental trauma, and how is it different from PTSD?
PTSD usually refers to the aftermath of an identifiable event. Developmental trauma is what accumulates from the ongoing conditions of early life: attunement that was not there, needs that were not safe to have, adaptations that worked then and cost you now. There is often no single memory to point at, which is why event-focused protocols alone can miss it.
Do I have to tell you everything that happened?
No. Somatic Experiencing and NARM both work with what is present now rather than requiring a full retelling, and EMDR processing does not need a narrated account either. You decide what gets said out loud and when.
How long does trauma therapy take?
It depends what we are working with. Stabilization can be a handful of sessions. Developmental trauma is slower, because we are building capacity rather than processing a single event. We review the arc together rather than guessing at the start.
I have tried EMDR before and it stalled. What is different here?
Most stalled EMDR stalls in preparation rather than processing. The IFS-informed approach looks for the part of you that is objecting, works out what it needs in place first, and only then returns to the target. Reem is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant who consults with other therapists on exactly this problem.
Do you work with trauma that is still happening?
Yes. Ongoing stress and unfinished situations are common here, and the emphasis in those cases is stabilization and footing first. Processing work before there is footing tends to destabilize rather than help.
Can I see an associate instead?
Yes, and often sooner. The practice's LPC Associates work under Reem's supervision, so the clinical lineage is the same, at lower fees including sliding scale. Say what is going on in the consult and you will be pointed at the right fit.
How can I learn more?
The frequently asked questions page collects everything that is not specific to one service: fees and insurance, how the methods differ, complex PTSD, what Texas requires of a counselor, and how to start. If the answer is not there either, a free consult is the quickest way to get one.
This practice does not provide emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
