Walk and talk therapy in central Texas
Trail walk and movement therapy with Reem Glasco, LPC-S, happens outside and side by side rather than across a room. Sessions run one hour, in person in central Texas, on Fridays, for adults only, and paid in advance. Walk, movement and equine sessions all begin after a free consult and one to three online sessions, so we know each other before we are outside. Equine-assisted sessions near Dripping Springs are available for an additional fee.
Why outside, and why side by side
Sitting face to face is a particular kind of pressure. Walking removes it. You are looking ahead rather than at someone looking at you, the pace gives the conversation somewhere to go, and the body is doing something while the hard material is in the air.
That suits the work here, which is body-based to begin with. Somatic Experiencing tracks sensation and the movements a threat response never finished, and movement is not a metaphor in that frame. Walking is also an easier place for some people to say a thing out loud for the first time.
It tends to suit
- People who talk more easily in motion than in a chair.
- Anxiety that sits in the body and settles with movement.
- Flatness and depression, where getting outside is itself part of the work.
- Anyone who finds an hour of eye contact harder than the topic.
It is not for everyone
A trail is a public place, so confidentiality there has a limit a room does not have: someone may pass within earshot, or recognize one of us. Routes, timing and what happens when other people pass are chosen with that in mind, agreed in the consult and the first online sessions, and written into the consent you sign before the first walk.
Sessions are weather dependent and in central Texas that is not a formality. If the weather makes walking a bad idea, the session is rescheduled rather than pushed through. Online sessions remain the default for most of the work, with walking as part of it rather than all of it.
Walk sessions are for adults, 18 and over. The practice does not work with young children, and these sessions are not offered to anyone under 18.
With horses
Equine-assisted sessions run near Dripping Springs after the same consult and one to three online sessions, for an additional fee. Horses respond to what your nervous system is doing rather than what you intend, which makes them a direct teacher of presence. Equine work for therapists is separate and runs through the training side of the practice.
Where the sessions happen
Shade, a fence line, somewhere to sit when walking stops being the point. Sessions move between all three, and nobody has to explain why they want to stop.

Questions about walk and talk therapy
What is walk and talk therapy?
A therapy session held outdoors while walking, rather than seated in an office or on video. The clinical work is the same and the confidentiality obligations are the same; the setting changes the pressure of the conversation and gives the body something to do.
How much does a walk therapy session cost?
$125 for a one-hour session. It is paid in advance to hold the spot, with no refunds for cancellations inside 48 hours. Regular 50-minute online sessions with Reem are $240.
Can I start with a walk session?
No. Walk, movement and equine sessions begin after a free consult and one to three online sessions, so the pacing and the working relationship are established before the setting changes.
How is privacy handled outdoors?
The obligations are the same outdoors as indoors; the setting is not. A trail is public, so someone may pass within earshot or recognize one of us, and that is planned for rather than wished away: route and timing, how conversation is handled when someone passes, and what you would want to do if you saw someone you know. All of it is agreed before the first walk and written into the consent you sign.
Where do the walk sessions happen?
On trails in central Texas, on Fridays. The specific location is arranged with you, and the equine sessions are near Dripping Springs.
Is walk and talk therapy available for teenagers?
No. Trail walk, movement and equine sessions are for adults 18 and over. The practice sees adults and young adults, including college-age clients, for online therapy, and does not work with young children.
How can I learn more?
The frequently asked questions page collects everything that is not specific to one service: fees and insurance, how the methods differ, complex PTSD, what Texas requires of a counselor, and how to start. If the answer is not there either, a free consult is the quickest way to get one.
This practice does not provide emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
